The Hiring of Byron Scott As Coach of the L.A. Lakers May Happen This Week

Byron Scott has been the frontrunner for the job since day one

It has been three months since former Los Angeles Lakers head coach Mike D'Antoni resigned and the Lakers haven't hired a new coach yet. Several unemployed coaches were interviewed by Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak and a deal has yet to be made until now. Due to the lengthy coaching search, most of the Laker fans are already wondering: What's taking them so long? Obviously, we all don't know the reason why. But they are inching closer to hiring a new one. A coach who isn't new to the Lakers organization: Byron Scott. Since Mike D'Antoni resigned, Scott has been the frontrunner for the job throughout the entire coaching search. He has been the favored by most Laker fans and even Kobe Bryant himself. During a basketball camp, Kobe endorsed Scott due to his close relationship with him since they were teammates before. Because of Kobe's strong endorsement, the Lakers might have found the right man for the job in Scott, and it will only take a day or two before he will be given a long-term contract as the their 25th head coach in franchise history.
